About

Siân Boyle is a freelance writer and journalist, specialising in features and longform journalism. She is published in The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Observer, The Times, The Independent, The i Paper, the Daily Mail, the Evening StandardThe House, and HuffPost.

Her career began at the age of 17, with work experience placements at the Herald & Post in her hometown of Luton, and then internships at FHM.  After winning The Guardian's Scott Trust Bursary, Siân was able to complete her Journalism Master’s at City University, the UK’s best journalism school. She then secured a place on Fleet Street’s most competitive training scheme, at the Daily Mail.

At the Mail, Siân worked as a news reporter covering terrorist attacks, murders and the Grenfell Tower fire. She then became deputy investigations editor and spent her twenties working undercover, successfully infiltrating Ryanair, the superyacht world, the Bilderberg Conference and others. Later, she was promoted to features writer.

Siân left the Mail in 2023 to pursue her own ideas and creativity. She enjoys writing about anything which explores the mind, the world or what it means to be human. Her favourite subjects change according to what she's interested in at the time, but they often come back to  psychology, social justice and technology.

Since going freelance, she’s won ‘Feature Writer of the Year’ at the National Press Awards, 'Best Technology Journalist’ at the British Journalism Awards, was nominated for ‘Best Feature’ at the Freelance Journalism Awards, and was a judge of the Regional Press Awards.

Siân writes in a variety of formats including longform journalism, narrative nonfiction, popular features and opinion essays. If you’d like to work with her, please get in touch via her contact form.
